How to enable Telnet command on Windows Vista or Windows 7

Telnet is an old protocol that is used for remote command line administration for various Networking devices like Cisco, Juniper, and D-Link etc. Telnet command is also useful for testing mail servers and for checking open TCP ports. By default Telnet command will not work on windows Vista and Windows 7, the reason for this is that telnet is not secure and they decided to leave it out because they were trying to update their level of security.

I have now found out how to get telnet on windows vista and windows 7. It is really simple and is done like this:

    1. Open control panel.

    2. Then go into programs.

    3. Then in programs and features there should be a part that says ‘turn windows features on or    off ‘ .

    4. Click ‘turn windows features on or off ‘ then on the list that appears simply check the box beside: Telnet Client.

    5. Then click ok.

Then it will simply work as normal. Hope this helps!

I also made a quick video of how this is done.
